How are you GeNose?

 How are you GeNose?

GeNose C19 is a corona virus detection tool developed by researchers at Gajah Mada University and has obtained a distribution permit from the Ministry of Health. As for taking samples from GeNose C19 in the form of breaths and test results can be known immediately in just 3 minutes. The fee is estimated to be around IDR 20,000 for one test with an accuracy of above 90 percent.

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) presents an innovative tool for Covid-19 detection, GeNose, which is the result of collaboration between a team of experts across fields of science at UGM. This equipment can detect Covid-19 from a breath, integrated with artificial-based features (Artificial Intelligence).

GeNose is a hope in implementing Covid-19 tracing and tracking in Indonesia in addition to the use of rapid tests and PCR. Moreover, this equipment has been tested in universal facilities such as train stations.

Then, what kind of method does GeNose work? And how is the efficiency and cost? Following Coverage6. com summarizes the data, Sunday (24/1/2021).

1. Able to Detect Virus in 50 Seconds

GeNose knows the virus through the breath that is stored in the air bag. After that the airbag is connected to GeNose equipment that has been supported by Artificial Intelligence or artificial intelligence (AI).

For the Head of Creation of the GeNose C19 Consortium, Eko Fajar Prasetyo, the GeNose system can detect the virus in 50 seconds.

"The accuracy with PCR is not much different. If it is negative GeNose, PCR is not needed," said Eko.

2. Accuracy 90 Percent

During a working visit to Pasar Senen Station, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan praised GeNose's accuracy of above 90 percent.

"We want to push this to be used in the public zone and the accuracy is above 90 percent. It continues to be used a lot so that it will continue to be accurate because the machine will continue to be smart," said Luhut at Pasar Senen Railway Station on Saturday (23/1/2021 ).

3. Have obtained a Ministry of Health permit

Luhut appealed to GeNose for use in many public zones because it has obtained an emergency use of authorization as well as a distribution permit from the Ministry of Health.

"The government shares its appreciation to the GeNose team from Gajah Mada University (UGM) who have worked hard to produce this innovation and helped the government in implementing 4T (Tracking, Tracing, Testing and Treatment) efforts," said Luhut.

4. Test fee of IDR 20 thousand

Luhut continued, the price set for one test with GeNose was only Rp. 20 thousand. The tool itself costs up to Rp 62 million.

"The equipment is only priced at 62 million and the price per person is only close to Rp. 20 thousand. If you consume more, the cost will continue to decrease and later on, this equipment will continue to be increased so that it has a sharper accuracy. And of course we must be proud. because this is made in Indonesia, "explained Coordinating Minister Luhut.

5. Installed at Railway Stations As of February 5th

On the same occasion, Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that the implementation of GeNose would begin at Railway stations (KA) on February 5, 2021.

"We plan that the train will start on February 5, 2021. Gradually, after that only the plane will fly," said Budi.
